Blizzard Warning in effect for:Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected.
Locations: Portions of southern Manitoba, including the Yellowhead and Trans-Canada highway corridor.
Total snowfall: 10 to 20 cm, with locally higher amounts possible.
Maximum wind gusts: north to northeasterly 70 to 90 km/h.
Timing: Starting this afternoon in the Manitoba parklands and this evening over southwestern Manitoba, the Interlake and the Red River Valley. Ending through the day on Thursday from north to south.
Remarks: A strong Alberta Clipper will bring heavy snow and strong, gusty winds leading to blizzard conditions over portions of southern Manitoba. Freezing rain over portions of southern and western Manitoba today will also be a hazard.
Travel will be dangerous and likely impossible due to near-zero visibility. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic.
Avoid travel and outdoor activities, if possible.
Blizzard warnings are issued when near-zero visibility in blowing snow is expected.
