Blizzard Warning in effect for:
R.M. of Macdonald incl. Brunkild Starbuck and La Salle
Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected.
Hazard: Widespread near zero visibilities in snow and blowing snow with winds gusting to 80 km/h.
Location: Southern Red River Valley and areas southeast of Lake Manitoba.
Timing: Beginning early Sunday morning and ending Sunday evening.
Remarks: Another clipper system passing through the province brought a few centimetres of fresh snow to the region Saturday night. Strong northwesterly winds gusting to 80 km/h will develop early Sunday morning along with whiteout blizzard conditions and falling temperatures for the day. Winds will ease in the evening.
Travel will be dangerous and likely impossible due to near-zero visibility. Road closures are possible.
Avoid travel and outdoor activities, if possible. If you must drive, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance. Protect yourself from wind, cold and disorientation by staying sheltered, indoors or with your vehicle.
Blizzard warnings are issued when near-zero visibility in blowing snow is expected.
